Happy International Women’s Day!

It’s International Women’s Day! According to the official site, “International Women’s Day (8 March) is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. In some places like China, Russia, Vietnam and Bulgaria, International Women’s Day is a national holiday.”

Today I encourage you to acknowledge the women in your life. Thank them for their help, friendship and love, let them know why you’re proud of them, or offer your help and support on some of their projects. Try to make a positive difference in one of their lives today!

In the meantime, let me know some women you admire in the comments. Whether they’re personal friends or historical/fictional characters, I want to hear all about the strong, inspiring women in your lives!

  1. This is probably corny… But YOU, Tara, are a woman I admire. I’m always very jealous of/moved by people who are our there doing the things they love. You inspire me to try to do more things that I’d like to. It doesn’t hurt that the things you do are things I like too…
Another woman I admire is Ellen DeGeneres. She seems like a very drama-free, enjoys helping people, fun-loving, kind of person. And brave too. (I like happy, positive people)

  2. I’ve always super admired my mom! She’s one of the most hardworking and talented people I know. She does so much for others, and I know it’s cheesy, but one day I hope to take after her in those ways. Anyone who knows her knows what I mean, she brings so much light to the world. <3

  3. ada lovelace and grace hopper! phrenology notwithstanding, but the 19th century gets a pass for that kind of thing.

  4. Kristin, shucks. 🙂 Thank you! And I agree–Ellen is someone I admire as well. It’s tough to be a comedian without being crass, mean, or self-deprecating, and I think she does a fantastic job.

Liz, so true. Your mom is fantastic, and I think you already do take after her in your creativity and hardworking spirit! The couple times I’ve seen the two of you together, you can see how close you are and how much alike you both are.

Tiaz, excellent women indeed! And yes, we’ll grant that pass.
