Add Personality to your Christmas Trees

The holidays are getting near, and it’s time to start figuring out where you’re getting your tree from.

While actual trees may smell nice, the pine needles and fire-hazardness can be a downer. And honestly–everyone has a basic tree. Don’t you want something a bit different?

Then take a look at Treetopia. Where else could you get an UPSIDE DOWN tree?

Space an issue? Go for their cute collection of rainbow tabletop trees. Or go the Tim Burton route with some elegant and slightly goth black trees. I think these would be absolutely gorgeous with some small gold lights and ornaments. Plus, you’ve got your centerpiece and tree together in one!

*From now until November 18th, Treetopia has some of their trees on sale for up to 40% off. Go now!

Cozy Mario Pipe Scarf

…Weird title for an absolutely delightful product.

This homemade scarf would be the perfect thing to spread your geek cred on the cold, blustery days.

Heck, I’d wear it inside while playing Super Mario Bros. Just because I could.

Dear Etsy, if anyone on your site begins to sell these, please let me know. My Christmas shopping will be done.

From Cosplay to Date Night: Geek Chic Cosmetics

Let me start off by saying: It is perfectly acceptable to be geeky and also want to be pretty and girly every once in a while. But it doesn’t hurt to have a cosmetic line that still has a bit of a geeky influence.

Check out Geek Chic cosmetics, a line made by fellow geeks for those of us who want to be pretty while pwning noobs. The line includes foundation, blushes, and multi-purpose eye shadows (wear them wet as an eyeliner or mix them into some gloss for a bit of added color to your lips!). The best part: the geeky names. I’m partial to the above collection, colors and names based on Battlestar Galactica.

The cosmetics can be purchased from their website, www.geekchiccosmetics.com.

Zombie Wedding

As I go through the arduous task of wedding planning, I see a little bit of everything. Classic, creative, quirky…

But this one takes the cake. I’m all for uniqueness (and I LOVE zombies), but I don’t think I have the balls to do this for my wedding.

The couple (and all of their friends) dressed up for the special occasion before trekking over to their courthouse.

I guess this is one way to show that not even death will part you…

See more pictures (including public drunkeness and the scaring of more traditional couples) here.

Cooking For Geeks

Normal cooking too boring for you? Cooking For Geeks may be just the thing. The book infuses even more science than normal, and is perfect for someone who thinks “regular” cooking is for sissies.

Take a look at their cute instructional video on making ice cream in 30 seconds:

Now if I can just get my hands on some liquid nitrogen, I’d be set!

You can purchase Cooking for Geeks from Amazon.com… it makes a great housewarming gift for your science lover!

Stargate Cookie

If the Stargate doesn’t work, you can at least eat it?

Check out the video for instructions on how to make a giant Stargate cookie:

My friends and I have discussed this particular cookie method, and have come to a conclusion that we’d like something in the middle. Perhaps make a very large full cookie and get out your blue frosting?

What are your thoughts: keep the middle empty, or fill it with blue?

“Zero Dollar Weddings”

My fiance and I are fortunate enough to be finalists in a very large wedding contest, and to get awareness of votes, we’ve created a series of short videos titled “Zero Dollar Weddings”. These are our responses to the ridiculous costs of weddings, and the misadventures that would occur in trying to have an extremely budget event.

Enjoy and check out the rest of the videos on our YouTube page.

A Twilight Cookbook?

Unfortunately, this book has too few recipes for blood soup and human stew for my taste:
“Love At First Bite” is the official unofficial Twilight Recipe book. Want to relive all of the moments where Bella ate something, or the vampires pretended to eat something? Well, here you go!

Proper etiquette dicatates, however, that you warn your guests before serving them something from this book. Certain guys’ gag reflexes may not make it through a meal devoted to the book that’s been stealing their girlfriends and wives away.

Nerd Merit Badges

Summers are pretty crummy for adults. No sleepaway camp, no falling asleep exhausted after a full day of sleeping, and no more cookouts and ghost stories over a fire. But there is one thing that can keep that summer camp feeling alive:

Merit Badges.

You may no longer be eligible for knot tying or fire building, but Nerd Merit Badges are just as pretty and much easier to earn.

Use FourSquare? There are 8 badges for that.

Known as the Family Tech Support? Make your kids buy you this badge.

And of course, the toughest badge of all: Getting your inbox down to zero.

So gather your girlfriends around, get your laptop sashes, and get ready to earn some badges!
