One of my friends is expecting her first child and posted a link to this Etsy shop on Facebook. I’m in love. Seriously, I need to be invited to more baby showers so I have an excuse to buy these things without asking if they “make them in an adult size.” (It’s embarrassing.)
Geek-a-bye Baby includes geeky bibs, hats, blankets, changing pads, full costumes, nursery art and more–basically anything you would need except for the baby itself. The prices are all really reasonable for handmade gear, and would make fantastic gifts. Check them out!
Have a kid? What’s the geekiest thing they had as a baby?
Want the coolest baby shower or kids’ gift? Get a custom-made Narwhal by the deceivingly named OstrichFarm. Whether you want your Narwhal with a bow, a monocle, a top hat, or just plain and adorable, they’ve got you covered. Prices range from $22-75 depending on size and accessories.
Plush Narwhals, available at Etsy.com.
Spring is in the air, and with that warm sunshine and hint of birdsong comes BABIES. TONS of babies. I’ve purchased three baby gifts in the past week, and have some more on the horizon.
Are you also in search of baby shower gifts that aren’t lame? Buy the baby a superhero onesie, and then get the mom something that’s a step up from a breast pump: the book “Let’s Panic About Babies!” This book is exactly what you want out of every self-help book but rarely find: it’s laugh-out-loud funny, ridiculous, and actually a tiny bit informative. It will calm you down and freak you out about your pregnancy all at the same time. As one of the authors wrote on her blog: “Let’s Panic About Babies! is a book I wrote with the delightful Alice Bradley. You will like it if you are currently pregnant, if you have children, or if you have absolutely no intention of having children. Not just because it’s funny, but because you can burn it to stay warm.”

This made the rounds last week, but was too good not to share here as well.
This nursery has the perfect balance of geek+class. It’s clean and simple, but obviously about Star Wars. Let’s hope this boy grows up to love the geekdom as much as his parents!
See more pictures and an interview by the parents at www.ohdeedoh.com.
What better way to teach your kids their ABCs than with Superheroes? I can see this making an amazing theme for a nursery… Paint a cityscape backdrop, hang this print, and have a nice cape on a coat hanger in the corner. So cute!
Print available from society6, starting at $13.99.
Now, I am all for using video as a way to creatively announce milestones to friends and family. But baby announcements are tricky. A couple must find a way to happily announce their new addition without making people think about them actually creating the baby.
This couple threw caution to the wind with their Star Wars themed baby announcement.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s hilarious and fun, but perhaps phrases like “Kick-Ass Sperm” and “Baby Hole” should not be used in videos sent to friends, family members, and co-workers. Next time, stick to a pastel card with Darth Vader saying, “I’m a father”.
