ModCloth is one of those sites that I visit whenever I just want to take a break and look at pretty things. Everything on their store is fun, cute, and so “me.” And I’ve found most of my friends feel the same way. I haven’t purchased something from them yet (but have received items as gifts), but that all may change today. ModCloth is having a huge “Now or Never” sale where items are up to 70% off. The sale will continue as long as the items last. I already see some things I want to snag, like these playing card salt and pepper shakers for $5.99 and these amazing charcoal-grey boots for $14.99.
Check out everything they have at www.modcloth.com/shop/sale. But go fast, things are already selling out!
It’s Friday the 13th! But instead of focusing on superstitions, I’m making hundreds of cupcakes and celebrating the love of some good friends at their wedding. It shall be a glorious day! While I’m busy making cupcakes and tearing up at vows, you can check out some of my favorite things from the past week!
Favorite Video: Cinderonce
Todrick Hall, who apparently was on American Idol and is also a thing on YouTube, made this fantastic video retelling the story of Cinderella through Beyonce songs. It’s worth watching for the costumes and choreography alone. Find it on YouTube.
Favorite TV Show: Bob’s Burgers
Yeah, yeah. It’s been on for years. I just started watching Bob’s Burgers a month or so ago and I can’t get enough of it. It’s funny, quirky, and actually kind of sweet.
Favorite News: JK Rowling’s Writing a Screenplay!
JK Rowling is creating a screenplay based on the Hogwarts textbook “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.” It will focus on the author of the book, Newt Scamander, and will take place 70 years prior to the Harry Potter series, and will start in New York. All exciting things! Read all about it here.
Favorite Clothing: BlackMilk’s Harry Potter Collection
It’s as if BlackMilk knew of the JK Rowling announcement when they decided to push their Harry Potter line launch back to this week. The clothing is all really fun looking, and I’m coveting the Marauder’s Map dress, but unfortunately, BlackMilk prices are still pretty steep. I’m holding out for another sale around my birthday like they did last year! See the whole collection here.
What amazing things have you discovered in the past week?
I love getting dressed up, but am often missing that something special that will make me stand out. LEDs and Fiber Optics to the rescue! Light up clothing can be subtle or shocking, but it will definitely catch people’s eye. Here are some sites and designers that specialize in the style:
The designers of Katy Perry’s dress for the MET Costume Institute Gala, CuteCircuit is the place to go for more upscale and fashion-forward designs. This dress is a ready-to-wear model influenced by Katy Perry’s design.
Looking for something a bit more casual? Flashion Statement creates light up shirts in women’s sizes–you can even order your own design! Great for your epic laser tag team.
Want to try your hand at making your own light up clothing? Cool Glow has a variety of EL wires available, as well as other accessories like shoelaces.
If this is all a bit too much for you, perhaps you can start with a light up shoe clip. See a DIY post here!
Would you wear light up clothing?
You’ve heard me talk about SCOTTEVEST before. I love their coats, and love them even more since they made my dad a finalist in their “Trip of Your Life” contest (we should be hearing any day on the winner! Eee!) When Mr. Geek and I were on our honeymoon, we had our jackets with us, and boy did they come in handy. Let’s just say I’m not used to European luggage regulations.
You can check out all of the baggage-charge-saving gear at Scottevest.com. What would you put in your SCOTTEVEST jacket?
Someone get me an infant to dress, asap. (Sorry, is that too creepy?)
But seriously. If I saw a baby wearing this Batman onesie, I would think they had the coolest parents in the world (and that the baby is unusually buff for its age…)
Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, Green Lantern, and Flash onesies are available for $21.99 at SuperHeroStuff.com.
