The Only Convention Hoodie You’ll Ever Need

Nerdist Convention Hoodie

Just in time for SDCC, Her Universe and Nerdist teamed up to create the ULTIMATE hoodie. It’s made to be a convention hoodie (with pockets for poster tubes, comic books, water bottles, and more), but looks like it would come in handy on a daily basis. I can see wearing this to street festivals, while traveling, while running events…I’d basically never take it off.

I’m even more psyched to see that the hoodie comes in men’s and women’s sizes, which means I can still have it fit and look cute. The hoodie is available at the Her Universe booth (2913-E) at SDCC, and should be available online after the con.

Will you be picking one of these up? What features would you include in an ultimate convention hoodie? (I wouldn’t mind a mini flashlight on the drawstring for when you’re walking home after parties, and maybe a special “protein bar and ibuprofen” pocket for the early mornings….)

doctor who valentine

This is one of the Valentines created by Kyle Reardon for backers of my Geeky Sprinkles Kickstarter campaign! You can see them all here

I’m sitting at home, looking at snow outside my window, and holding a hot cup of tea. It’s pretty much the dream environment for a blogger. As I get started on posts and recipes for the week, I wanted to take a quick peek at some of my favorite links from this past week.

Van Gogh Infinity Scarf: Her Universe has done it again and has me desperately wanting another piece of their clothing. This time it’s a Doctor Who/Van Gogh infinity scarf that would go with pretty much any outfit. How cute is it?

Cupcake Syrup: Speaking of things I want to buy, have you heard of Cupcake syrup? It makes coffee a thing that I actually want to drink. I keep brainstorming what other things I could make taste like a cupcake! The options are endless. ENDLESS.

Free Goodies from OneUpMakeup: OneUpMakeup, the geeky makeup channel I do with a group of lovely girls, is hosting a contest for a grab bag of tons of awesome makeup! Check it out!

Geeky Sprinkles: My Kickstarter is over 75% funded with 9 days to go. It’s close, but it needs an extra push to get it there. Can you help spread the word?

OOTD: Red Hot Viper

Guys, selfies are hard. How do you all do it and look so darn cute? And how the heck are you supposed to get a full body shot by yourself? Anyway, this was my Friday outfit. It was a bit chillier in San Diego, but that didn’t stop me from rocking shorts.

Geek Girl Trendsetters at SDCC

I’m back from SDCC, and when I wasn’t having in-depth conversations on comics or dancing with Joss Whedon(!), I was soaking up all of the awesome in panels. This panel was my absolute favorite: 25 ladies showed off their homemade geek-inspired outfits to a panel of geek fashion experts. The panel left me so inspired, I’m already thinking up designs and ideas for my own geeky dresses!

Take a look at the top 6 contestants along with geek fashion advice from the panelists. Want to see more fashion? Pics of every single contestant are over on Facebook.

“Make sure your outfit won’t fall off of you.” and “When in doubt, add glitter.” –Bonnie Burton

“Find things symbolic of the character you like to cosplay and incorporate it into your outfit.” –Clare Grant

“Always accessorize.” –Tarina Tarantino

“Mix high and low.” –Jaime King, wearing a Star Tours t-shirt and Calvin Klein skirt.

“Fans help determine new things in our stores.” –Courtney Lear (Want a fandom in Hot Topic? Let her know!) Ed Labay, Senior Buyer for Hot Topic, mirrored her sentiment.

“Make Geeky sassy, put the girly in there!” –Catherine Taber

Have you made your own geeky outfit or accessory? Tell me about it in the comments!

New BSG Shirts

Her Universe has recently launched a bunch of new Battlestar Galactica shirts, and I want them all. My Cylon shirt is from Her Universe, and is one of my all-time favorites. I get compliments every time I wear it out!

I can’t wait to add these ones to my wardrobe as well:

BSG Grey Seal Racer Tank

$25 at Her Universe

BSG Tattoo White V-Neck

$28 at Her Universe

BSG Starbuck Rain V-Neck

$28 at Her Universe

So Say We All Burnout

$25 at Her Universe

The only bad news? These shirts aren’t available to purchase until July 11th. I’ll be putting that date on my calendar!

Princess Leia Hoodie

In other “costumes that can be worn out in public” news, this hoodie rocks my socks. It looks fairly discreet, but once you lift the hood up, you’ve disappeared and Princess Leia has taken your place. Perfect for cold days, movie nights, and impromptu costume parties.

The hoodie is created by Her Universe and is available for $54.50 at Hot Topic.
