MOAR Nail Wraps From Espionage Cosmetics!

EspionageKickstarter

Today, Espionage Cosmetics launched their second Kickstarter. If you missed out on their nail wraps the first time, need to refill your stock, or (like me) just can’t wait to get the new designs, you’ve gotta pledge now.

The nail wraps are geeky, beautiful, and easy to use, and this time many of the designs are licensed. This means you can fangirl even harder with official products from your fave creators.

I’m particularly excited for Baker Street, Lunar Phase, Mermaid, and Treasure Map wraps, and the “Glitter is the New Black” t-shirt. Check out all of the initial new designs below and let me know what you’re excited for in the comments! (More wraps may be unlocked if and when they hit stretch goals, so keep checking in on their page!)

Rapunzel-Inspired Makeup Tutorial

Sometimes, you’ve gotta do things that scare you in order to grow. And while I love makeup and think I’ve mastered basic natural looks on myself, I don’t have the artistic flair that my fellow OneUpMakeup ladies have. I love getting my makeup done by them, but I hadn’t done a look on anyone else. (Heck, I barely know how to use makeup brushes and everything I do ends up looking way too natural or fading instantly.)

Well, I finally did it. I did a Tangled/Rapunzel-inspired look on Kristina. Is it flawless? Not at all. But I did it. And I’m excited to see what my next look will be and how I can grow and learn from this first experience. (For instance, colors look different on different skin tones! And the lighting you use for your filming will affect how the makeup looks!) Take a peek and let me know what other characters/looks you want me to try in the future!

These gifts are also fantastic for the sister, Mom, or friend that claims they’re “not geeky.” Bring them over to the dark side gently with these fun products!

Show off your love for the Disney Princesses you grew up with in this fun, layerable tank top. $14 exclusively at the Geeky Hostess Store.

cinderella
Sephora Disney Collection
My friends and I are in love with the Sephora Disney Collections. We get so excited when they announce a new princess and can’t wait to see what they come up with for colors. I have the larger Cinderella eye palette that’s no longer available, and it’s amazing. The quality of the makeup is great and the Disney tie-in is a fantastic gimmick that gets me buying. I’m still waiting for them to put out a Belle collection! All items are limited edition, so get ’em quick! $19-58 at Sephora.

spiffing
Spiffing Jewelry
I’m gonna pull the “hipster” card on Spiffing Jewelry and claim that I liked them before they were cool. I saw them at some tiny craft show in San Diego years ago, and have loved seeing their business grow over the years. They create cute, hand stamped items with geeky and personalized sayings. I used to have bracelets from them that said “Cupcakes and Charisma” and “Geeky Hostess” but ended up wearing them daily and lost/broke them both. Maybe Santa will replace them for Christmas! (Or get me a floating locket…or some of the stacking rings…) Check out all of their goodies at SpiffingJewelry.com

f24c_european-style_charm_bracelet
Geeky European-style Charm Bracelet
ThinkGeek has caught onto the trend of the European-style charm bracelet. You’ll see these charm shops in malls and airports, encouraging you to make a bracelet as unique as the woman it’s for. Now you actually can with awesome geeky charms! $12.99-39.99 at ThinkGeek.com.

BSG Shirt
Her Universe Apparel
I’ve been collecting my fair share of Her Universe apparel since they started their shop, and I love everything. They have fandoms I adore like Doctor Who and BSG, and cuts that are way cuter than the boxy “unisex” tees that used to be the only things available at cons. Lately I’ve been obsessed with their BSG Seal Sweatshirt. I got one for my birthday, and it’s SO ridiculously comfy and cute. It has a wide scoop neck, is super long, and looks fantastic with leggings or skinny jeans. In fact, I loved it so much, I got another one in a size Large to giveaway! Just enter the Rafflecopter below to win! I’ll pick a winner in a week so we can hopefully get it to you before Christmas!

Friday Favorites: November 15

Friday Faves 11-15

It’s already the middle of November and nothing I’m doing is helping time stop or go any slower. But I’ve found lots of delightful new things to keep myself occupied as winter closes its cold grasp on me. Take a look!

Favorite Trailer: Maleficent
The Maleficent trailer premiered this week, and you could almost hear the cries of excitement ring out throughout the land. This is a villain we’re all excited to root for!

Favorite Charity Event: Desert Bus For Hope
If you like watching sleep-deprived people play a boring video game and do silly tasks while raising money for Child’s Play, then you’ll love Desert Bus! Tune into the pre-show starting tonight at 6:30pm Pacific, or tune in on Saturday morning at 10am for the start of the event. Last year they played for over 6 days and made over $440,000. I can’t wait to see what this year holds! Tune in at desertbus.org.

Favorite Product: Real Techniques Makeup Brushes
I got these brushes from a Klout perk (of all places) and I absolutely LOVE them. You may remember that I’m not so good with makeup brushes, I prefer to put makeup on with my hands. Well, these brushes have changed that. They’re super easy to use (they tell you how to use them on the brush and the packaging), they’re cute, and they’re well made. The first day I started using them, Mr. Geek complimented me on my makeup. So far so good! You can find them at Amazon.com.

Favorite Superhero: Batkid
San Francisco has turned into Gotham City for the day as one Make-a-Wish kid becomes Batkid and saves the town from a series of villains. You can watch the events live here!

Nailed It! Nerd Nail Art by Espionage Cosmetics

Galaxy1closeup-lowres

Our favorite geeky makeup company is at it again, and this time they’re prettying up our nails. Espionage Cosmetics has launched a Kickstarter Campaign for some “nerdy nail wraps” and I seriously want them all. The wraps include great designs inspired by space, the Ninja Turtles, Cthulhu, zombies, and more. As they hit stretch goals, they’ll release more designs. The campaign itself is essentially a pre-order, so grab your nail wraps now! Pledge $100 or more, and you may get some fun freebies (like glitter eyeliner stickers) if they hit more of their stretch goals.

Really want to treat yourself? For $5,000, you can “Get Espionaged” where they will treat you like rockstars and create an amazing photo shoot starring you, similar to the Pin-Up Wonder Woman one they did with me. Seriously, it’s worth it.

I got to see some nail wrap prototypes in person at VidCon, and they look amazing. I’m most excited for the Ninja Turtle-inspired ones, but will most likely end up buying one of each design they offer.

Friday Favorites: July 26

Friday Faves 7-26

This may be the post-SDCC Friday Favorites, but I’m going to try to keep some of my SDCC fave finds for other individual posts. So here are some of my fave things outside of San Diego!

Favorite Kickstarter: Broodhollow
If you haven’t read the web comic Broodhollow, what are you even doing here, just go there now and read it all. When you’re done, head on over to the Kickstarter page and buy yourself a book. It’s already been ridiculously successful and there’s till 18 days left. I’m thrilled to see so much support for this awesome comic!

Other Favorite Kickstarter: Forge of Honor
Plush swords, shields, and animals that help protect your child from monsters in their room and encourage the use of their imaginations. I’m in love. Am I too old to get this for myself? Visit their Kickstarter page.

 Favorite Makeup: Eyeko Eyeliner
I received Eyeko Eyeliner in a Birchbox a while back and absolutely loved it. It’s a liquid eyeliner that’s easy to use, doesn’t smudge, and lasts forever. I just ran out and tried a few other less expensive options, and wasn’t happy with anything. It’s worth the $16. You can find it at Sephora.

Favorite Tumblr: Disney Bound
As I’m prepping for a Vidcon/Disneyland trip with the Job Hunters cast/crew, I suggested we all “Disneybound” while we’re at the park. (Is that a verb? I’m gonna make it a verb.) Anyway, you dress up in outfits inspired by Disney characters. There will be a whole post on it later, but coming up with suggestions for everyone and finding the outfits has been so much fun! Check out the tumblr that started it all for inspiration.
