Espionage Cosmetics Announces Lip Gloss Line

Kiss of Death Image

I have a weakness. And that weakness is lip gloss. I have a giant cookie jar overflowing with different glosses and lip things, and yet I still buy more. So naturally, I squealed a bit when I heard that Espionage was releasing a lip gloss line. They’ll be releasing 3 sets of this line over the next year, and I’m already thrilled with the ones they came out with. (Plus, their promo photos are SO cool!)

These first two glosses are vegan, gluten free, and contain coconut oil and vitamin e oil. Although they seem so good for you, they’re all based on fictional characters with a “Kiss of Death” and their names represent that:

Venom is coral with a gold shimmer, tastes like peaches, AND it’s blacklight reactive! So cool.

Fatality is a clear gloss with gold shimmer, tastes like buttercream frosting (my favorite) and is specially formulated so you can blend it with any of your Espionage Cosmetics colors to make a unique gloss.

You can find these glosses at Espionage Cosmetics’ Online Store or at any convention the lovely ladies may be attending. OR you can win the set right now! Just follow the directions in the Rafflecopter below. I’ll pick a winner on  May 22nd!

Friday Favorites: April 12

Friday Faves 4-12

It’s Friday! Huzzah! Here are my faves from the past week:

Favorite Makeup: MAC’s “Baking Beauties”
MAC made an entire collection of makeup based on baking. The pastel colors have names like “Fancy Frosting” and “Devils Food” and focuses on some pastel colors that are perfect for spring. They’ve gotta stop this whole gimmick of naming makeup after things I love–I’m gonna go broke. I’m particularly loving the Raspberry Swirl lipstick. The whole collection is available at maccosmetics.com.

Favorite Tumblr(s): Reasons My Son is Crying and Des Hommes et des Chatons
You’ve most likely heard of Reasons My Son is Crying–they went as viral as a Tumblr page could this past week. It’s brilliant.

Another brilliant find is Des Hommes et des Chatons. It’s pictures of attractive men paired up with pictures of cats in the same pose. I don’t know how to explain it more than that. All I know is that I love it. Mr. Geek didn’t seem as amused, for some reason.

Favorite Kickstarter: Assemble Rubber Stamping Kits
Local (to Seattle) company Assemble Shop & Studio are in the middle of their Kickstarter campaign to create and sell rubber stamping kits, and the designs they’ve got so far are super cute. I could think of a lot of fun projects to do that could use the book spine stamp.

Favorite Activity: International Geek Girl Pen Pals Club
I just received my first letter from my pen pal, and I can’t wait to go shopping for Seattle/Geeky goodies to send her! I’ve set aside some time today to make that happen. Don’t have a pen pal yet? You can sign up on their site.

Favorite Way to Clear Out My Bank Account: Kate Spade Friends and Family Sale
You know I’m obsessed with Kate Spade and the brand’s cute, girly, quirky, and sometimes geeky style. Well, now I have even less of a reason to show restraint with their Friends and Family Sale starting today. Enter code S13FFUS to get the discount online. But be quick–the sale only lasts two days.

Friday Favorites: March 15

Friday Faves March 15

Here are my favorite things from this past week! Missed the first “Friday Favorites” post? Check it out here.

Favorite Beauty Product: Full n’ Soft Mascara
I’ve tried a lot of mascaras, but I keep coming back to this one. It makes my lashes all pretty-like but without feeling sticky, clumpy, or brittle. It looks and feels like I just have awesome natural lashes. Fellow OneUpMakeuper Meagan also swears by it. Plus, it’s only $5.99 on Amazon!

Favorite Video(s): “Most Cans Opened in 3 Seconds” and “After Ever After
I can’t choose. Don’t make me choose. These videos are both very different, and I love them both. “Most Cans Opened” is only a few seconds long. “After Ever After” combines catchy songs with  my love of Disney and parodies. Check them both out!

Favorite Kickstarter: Machine of Death
Machine of Death is a card game based on a book written by your favorite web comic artists and writers. So just donate. :-) They’ve surpassed so many stretch goals that everyone ends up getting WAY more than their initial incentive level. I donated and I can’t wait to get the game!

(And of course, the Job Hunters Kickstarter is still going on. If you’re able to donate or help spread the word, I’d be so grateful!)

Favorite Treat: Kukuruza Hawaiian Salted Caramel Popcorn
My mom loves salted caramel, so I stopped by Kukuruza last week to grab her some (and though I might as well try some myself). Holy cow. If you like caramel popcorn and also salted popcorn, then you will LOVE this. Bonus: The girl who helped me complimented my D&D shirt and then we chatted about this Doubleclicks song and PAX. So Kukuruza just has good taste all around. You can buy them online here or at their store near Pike Place Market.

Favorite Workout: Barre3
Contrary to what my “favorite treats” my be telling you, I am trying to lead a more healthy lifestyle, and one of my favorite ways to do that is by doing Barre3. I used to go into their classes, but then they started an online collection of classes that you can subscribe to for $15 a month (the price of one in-person class). Their classes are meant to be taken by really busy people–you have you choice between 10, 30, 40, and 60 minute videos that leave you feeling stretched out, refreshed and not too sweaty (but you’ll be waking up sore the next day!). They’re a mix of barre exercises, pilates, and yoga, and I absolutely love them. It’s the only exercise I’ve ever looked forward to doing. You can check out a sample 10 minute class here and find out more at barre3.com.

Which Witch Are You? Oz-Inspired Makeup Palettes

glinda palette  theodora palette

Oz: The Great and Powerful opens tomorrow, and although the title hints at the Wizard being the main character, it sounds like the witches steal the show. You can get into character before seeing the movie with one of these makeup palettes from Urban Decay.

Are you looking for sweet colors from the Glinda palette, or something a bit more sassy from Theodora’s?

Glinda and Theodora Palettes, $49 each at Ulta.com.

Geek Beauty: Glitter Masks

ECCC Glitter Masks

In honor of their newest collection and the amazing superhero they came up with to go along with it, Espionage Cosmetics spent Emerald City Comicon putting glitter masks on people. When I first saw them, I thought they were rhinestones placed on a face, but they’re actually done with eyelash glue and loose glitter! Here’s how to make a glitter mask of your own:

IMG_4807 small

Use black eyelash glue to dab small dots on your face in the shape of a mask. Let dry slightly so it won’t run/smudge.

IMG_4808 small

Take loose glitter (we used ones from Espionage Cosmetics’ Comic Book collection) and tap it lightly over the glue dots, making sure you cover them all. Then take scotch tape and lightly remove the excess from your skin by going between the dots. If you want a look similar to Kristina and Liz up top, you can stop here! If you’re looking for more of a two-toned look, continue on.

Using clear eyelash glue, apply dots in the middle of your mask or where you would like the second color to appear.

IMG_4814 smallLike the first time, pat the second color on lightly over the slightly-dried glue dots, and try to avoid getting the glitter onto the first color. Remove the excess with scotch tape.

You’re ready to fight crime and look fabulous!

Geek Beauty: Jasmine Makeup at Sephora

Jasmine Makeup

You may have remembered my obsession over Sephora’s newest Disney makeup collection back in October when they released Cinderella’s set. Well, it was a good day when I saw a new set has come out–this time featuring Jasmine and the colors of the movie “Aladdin.” The palette’s colors are perfect for a sultry, summery look, and come with a blush and bronzer as well as 15 eyeshadows.  The best thing about these palettes are the fact that the colors can be so versatile. You can stick with just blues or just nudes if you don’t want to go so warm, or play up the heat with some of the browns and pinks.

I fell in love with the Cinderella palette and use it often. I see myself grabbing all of the princess collections as they come out. (And I still can’t wait to see what they do for Belle!)

The Jasmine Collection also includes an eyeliner kit, nail polish, perfumed body shimmer, a mirror and more, all sold individually at Sephora.com. Prices range from $19-58.

Giveaway: Espionage Cosmetics ECCC Collection

Emerald City Promo Poster

My favorite geeky cosmetics company is making history today: They’re the first makeup company in geeky history to be asked to launch a con exclusive. Presenting: The “EC Collectors Edition!”

The colors are perfect for the Emerald City and any woman who wants to look a bit more like a superhero. And with names like “Variant” and “Origin Story,” they’re just too fun not to use. Check out the descriptions, in order from top to bottom, below:

First Appearance

It’s like falling in love… except more badass. That moment you flip through the pages and meet a new character for the first time. One that sparkles and shines but still makes you green with envy of their awesomeness. This mixture of gold and kryptonite, your first appearance on the scene definitely won’t be your last.

Variant

From the depths of darkness rises a new shade of awesome — Variant. For those smoky dark-eyed nights when a regular black just won’t do, this dark charcoal throws in flashes of copper sparkle to show off a special edition look of seduction.

Crossover

The only thing better than being the hero of your own universe is the almighty crossover. This cosmetic-grade glitterbomb of awesome green, silver, and copper is certain to name you the reigning hero wherever you go.

Origin Story

If we don’t learn from the past, we’re doomed to repeat it. But in some cases, that’s okay — especially when it shines. With shimmering yellow and sparkling gold, Origin Story doesn’t just tell the world where you came from, it paves the road for awesomeness ahead.

You can pick up your collection at Emerald City Comicon in Seattle from March 1-3. Can’t make it to the con? Win a set below!
